Jon Hopkins will release new album ‘RITUAL’ on August 30th.
The electronic musician has built a singular catalogue, ranging from the electronic heft of 2013’s Mercury nominated ‘Immunity’ to the exploratory tropes within 2021 task ‘Music For Psychedelic Therapy’.
New album ‘RITUAL’ was prompted by his meditative apply, and it is a 41-minute piece of continuous new music. Intended to be both equally devotional and nurturing, the record will be aired at a distinctive listening function at London’s ICA on Might 12th, even though there will also be a further listening party at Glastonbury’s Ambient phase in June.
Released via his extensive-time household Domino Records, Jon Hopkins introduces ‘RITUAL’ by commenting:
I have no idea what I’m performing when I’m composing. I never know the place it is coming from, and I never know the place it’s heading, nor does it feel to issue. I just know when it is concluded.So all I can seriously do is come to feel my way to the conclusion, then consider and retrospectively analyse what may well be going on, and try out and determine out what its reason is. What is obvious is that this 1 has the construction of a Ritual. I know what that Ritual is for me, but it will be a thing diverse for you. It feels significant not to be prescriptive about what this Ritual truly is.
It feels like a device, it’s possible even a machine, for opening portals in your interior environment, for unlocking points that are concealed and buried. Factors that are held in area by the pressure in your system. It does not sense like “an album” therefore – much more a process to go by means of, anything that performs on you. At the similar time, it feels like it tells a story. Maybe it is the story of a course of action I’m going as a result of, and a single that we are all likely through. Possibly it is also the story of generation, destruction and transcendence. It’s possible it’s the tale of the archetypal hero’s journey – the journey of forgetting and remembering.
