Elle King to headline Nelsonville Black Diamond Music & Arts Festival

Hocking School will host the inaugural Black Diamond Tunes & Arts Competition on June 10-11, the Nelsonville neighborhood university declared not too long ago.

The two-working day function will pay homage to the bluegrass and state genres and traditions of southeast Ohio with national functions such as Elle King and Elvie Shane headlining and common area functions such as McGuffey Lane also in the lineup.

The idea guiding the gathering came about when the Nelsonville Songs Competition decided previously this yr not to host its yearly celebration on campus as it had for decades prior to COVID-19, said Sean Terrell, dean of workforce progress and neighborhood engagement.

“We explained, ‘If they’re not going to do it listed here, let’s do a thing in its spot,'” Terrell said. “We required it to be much more grounded in the music of the place, while, like bluegrass and country.”
