Starling is composed of bassist River Owens, guitarist Beck Watson and drummer Mason Lurie, all of whom are Ohio Point out college students and collectively add to the band’s vocals. Owens explained Starling proudly promises the emo style, even if its community perception is not the most correct. 

“I come to feel like it’s misunderstood,” Owens said. “They feel of like, I don’t know, some sh*t like f*cking Black Veil Brides, or some sh*t or some stereotypical emo band. They’re not completely wrong, but there’s so significantly extra.” 

Inspite of the band’s willingness to experiment with seem, Watson explained it is ultimately hooked up to the emo label.

“We’ve bought this duality of not wanting to label ourselves, but also emotion an attachment to the labels because we’re motivated by it,” Watson explained. 

Lurie agreed.
