Ted Jones, an acclaimed graphic artist who labored extensively with Klaatu, died in Halifax on March 1, age 68, of a suspected coronary heart assault.

Born in Windsor, ON, Jones grew up in Toronto.

Terry Draper of Klaatu, named as Jones’ next-of-kin, informs FYI that “Jones did just about all of Klaatu’s album handles, graphics, illustrations and artwork apart from the Sir Army Match album (Hugh Syme) and Peaks (Terry Watkinson of Max Webster). – David “Ziggy” Sigmund, a Vancouver guitarist who played with Slow, Art Bergmann, The Scramblers, Copyright, and Econoline Crush, has died, age 56. A cause of dying has not been described.

Sigmund was a member of the industrial-pop device Econoline Crush from the late 90s to early 2000s. The band’s leader, Trevor Hurst, posted this on its Fb web page: “David “Ziggy” Sigmund, my buddy, associate, my brother in arms has crossed above. His unexpected passing has taken all of us by surprise. He was a good musician, artistic genius, entertaining conversationalist and the finest cling. My life is forever improved. I want to thank everybody for the type messages of help throughout this tricky time.”

On Facebook, his comrade Art Bergmann posted: “Goodbye sweet Ziggy. Always like you.”

Sigmund was a member of the seminal Vancouver punk band Sluggish, from 1984-87, and was element of its reunion in 2017. After Gradual split for the first time, he joined the Scramblers. An archival album of that group’s blues-infused tough rock material, Good Gone Poor, was introduced in 2005 via Heart of Texas Data.

Sigmund would go on to be a part of Econoline Crush, initially showing on the band’s 1997 LP The Devil You Know. The single All That You Are (X3), on which Sigmund acquired a composing credit history, acquired the team larger publicity in the US.

The 3rd album Brand New Heritage followed in 2001, developed by fellow Canadian Bob Rock, who had formerly enlisted Sigmund as a touring guitarist for his shorter-lived Rockhead outfit.
