“I listened to my dad’s prog documents. Which is what I wanted to play.” Cellar Darling on the audio that drives them

“Our motto in the studio was extra is extra!” suggests Cellar Darling’s Merlin Sutter with a chuckle. The Swiss band’s drummer, and their vocalist, flautist and hurdy-gurdy participant Anna Murphy have taken time out of tour rehearsals to give Prog the lowdown on their spellbinding next album.

“We’ve been cautious simply because we do not want to be pigeon-holed, but for me, that’s the essence of progressive audio just seeing where you can drive the boundaries of a rock band, no matter if which is by instrumentation, technical means or stylistic alternatives,” provides Sutter.
